Our EE MarineGranules – The New Best Thing? We think so.

Hot off the Press! Our Previse SkinCare EE [Extra Exfoliating] Marine Granules won’t be hitting the market till this March, but a little sneak peak has the beauty industry buzzing already, in this, the first week of January…. What do you think?

EE MarineGranules_Render Small

Belisa Silva, Beauty Editor, Women’s Wear Dailyoffered beauty industry insiders the first look at our natural, research-based innovation, “EE MarineGranules, which industry sources estimate could generate about $1 million in its first year at retail, is also meant to extend and add category dimension to the alphabet cream trend, according to (Sean Patrick) Harrington.”

The article continues, “The offering, which retails for $40, features ingredients like … bamboo stem powder, marine algae extract and jojoba beads for abrasion-free exfoliation. It is designed to buff the skin while soothing it and the amount used can be personalized for a consumer’s skin needs.” EE MarineGranules is a one step $40 process as compared to the $100 multi-step investment with $30 replacement buffers required by electronic exfoliators. Cost effective, physical exfoliating technology or the other choice. We prefer EE MarineGranules.  Read More.

Today we share a recent Q+A exchange between Previse Wellness Expert, Tamy Ottomeyer and a Previse SkinCare client.  The topic, “How do I use Previse in conjunction with other products?”

Q: I recently started using the Previse three-step skincare line.  I have a question.  I just purchased Truth Serum Vitamin C collagen booster by Ole Henriksen.  I have been putting the serum on before Nutrify Step 2.0 for the last few days.  Is this okay?  What would you recommend?  Jennifer F.

A: What we love about Vitamin C is the antioxidant benefit. Latest research shows that Vitamin C may help slow the rate of free-radical damage. Free radicals can damage collagen, which causes dryness, plus fine lines and wrinkles. The key element derived from Vitamin C is ascorbic acid 2-phosphate. This element can help to neutralize free radicals, and may reverse some DNA damage. You certainly can continue your Ole Henriksen, however the same benefits, and more, are found in Previse Nutrify Step 2.0, and Defend Step 3.0.

My recommendation is that you save your money and simply use Nutrify and Defend twice daily – once in the morning and again in the evening.

  • Our Nutrify recipe includes a healthy dose of Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid) + Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract to assist in fighting free radicals, improve your skin’s hydration, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally you will find Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, Bellis Perennis (Daisy) Flower Extract, and Panthenol (Vitamin B5). Combined these botanicals and vitamins help to even skin tone, further hydrate your skin, plus add suppleness.
  • Our Defend recipe includes an additional helping of Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid) + other essential oils and botanicals to fight free radicals and defend your DNA from environmental bombardment.

We advise all readers to read your product labels before buying, and definitely before using. We evaluated the Ole Henriksen product and find several ingredients [or baddies] that we restrict using in Previse products. These ingredients include PEG-12 Dimethicone, artificial fragrance (Parfum), and Yellow 6 (CI 15985).

If you wish to continue using your Ole Henriksen product in conjunction with your Previse SkinCare three-step regimen, apply as directed by the manufacturer, only after you have applied Nutrify Step 2.0, and before Defend Step 3.0.

Jennifer, Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or comments you may have about your Previse SkinCare regimen experience. All of us at Previse are completely devoted to enriching the lives of our clients. Your insight and suggestions are very important in shaping our activities.

Previse is thrilled to introduce to you renowned fitness and performance enhancing coach, CEO of Healthplex and author, (+18 time IronMan Triathalon finisher!), “J.R” Rosania as a contributing author to our blog! His simple fitness, health and lifestyle enhancement programs parallel the Previse passion for prevention philosophy.

“Today, I am proud to share with you my top 10 simple nutritional and exercise habits that I try to live by. Participate in them with me, and you will begin that road to  becoming a healthier athlete”.

  1. Find out your BMR – Basal Metabolic rate (metabolism) which is calories expended by the body at rest to maintain current body weight
  2. Know how many calories a day you burn, including exercise. Add your calories burned from your workout with your BMR number and total it up.
  3. Count your calories daily – Get a calorie counter booklet and begin with early morning calories and total up your foods and liquids.
  4. Do at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily. Pick any form of cardio – walking, jogging, swimming, hiking etc.
  5. Eat 6 meals a day, with equal number of calories that total your BMR. For example, lets say your BMR is 1800, eat 300 calories 6 times a day.
  6. Eat leafy greens everyday. Have a green vegetable and/or a multi greens salad
  7. Eat seeds, grains and nuts everyday. Choose between almonds, sunflower seeds and raw mixed nuts.
  8. Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water. Drink 6-8 ounces 8 – 12 times a day
  9. Do two days of 60 – 90 minutes of aerobic cardiovascular exercise. Pick a day where you can spend 1 -2 hours doing your favorite activity.
  10. Engage in some light to moderate strength training 2 times a week. Get on a full body resistance program to build stronger muscles.

Let’s face it, traveling is stressful.

Whether you’re traveling for business, a vacation, family homecoming, or simply a quick weekend getaway… today’s travel is not easy. The fastest travel, and ironically most difficult, is by plane. Hurtling through the sky at 500 miles per hour and 30,000 feet, the cabin is pressurized to keep passengers safe from the effects of altitude. The downside is low moisture content, airborne pollutants, and recirculated air.  Combined, the effects on your skin can be horrendous. Pressurized cabin air leeches moisture, which leaves your skin dry, itchy and irritated. To compensate, your body produces extra oil to help retain moisture.  It’s no wonder your skin can easily look greasy and lackluster at the end of an extended flight.

Following these In-Flight Skin Care tips will help diminish any anxiety by improving the health of your skin so you arrive at your destination glowing and hydrated.

  • Exfoliate your skin the night before. Exfoliation is important because it gets rid of the top layer of dead skin cells. Dead skin cells can prevent moisturizer adhesion and make the skin dull.
  • Follow with a thick layer of moisturizer, such as our occlusive Previse Hydrobalm. HydroBalm helps the skin retain moisture in preparation for the arid climate of the plane’s cabin.
  • Drink plenty of water the day before your flight.
  • Do not switch or change your skin care routine prior or during travel. What works for you at home will work best while traveling. If your products aren’t approved for carry-on luggage, decant them in TSA approved travel containers, or simply ask your favorite manufacturer for travel size availability. If you’re travel is for an extended period of time consider shipping your must-haves ahead.  For a scant $20 UPS and Fedex will see that your regimen shipped and waiting for your arrival.
  • For Women:
    – Skip foundation on the day of your trip. Wear only a high quality skin hydrating serum or moisturizer.
    – Avoid using mascara or cream eye shadows, particularly for longer flights. If you sleep or take a nap, these products have a tendency to move around on your face as you snooze!
  • Prepare your On-Board Skin Care Kit which should include:
    1. Previse Nutrify or an alternative eye gel
    2. Previse Hydrobalm for superior non-comedogenic hydration
    3. Previse Defend for deep hydration and protection
    3. Jokipiin Face Cloth
    4. Small hand towel
    5. Lip balm
    6. Your favorite hand lotion or alternatively Previse Defend.

  • Prepare for your flight by purchasing a large bottle of water before boarding.  Plan on drinking 8oz of water for every hour you’re in the air.
  • Wash and hydrate your skin before going to sleep on long flights, and again on waking. Dampen your Jokipiin face cloth and use a small amount of Previse Purify to cleanse excess oil and airborne pollutants. Pat your face gently with a small hand towel to dry.
  • Keep oily skin from getting out of control without stripping moisture. Pack blotting papers or rice papers in your carry-on and dab the “T” zone as needed.
  • Say no to skin drying and damaging beverages: alcohol, coffee, and diet sodas are potent dehydrators.
  • No amount of washing and hydrating will help if you fail to rest while in-flight. Lack of sleep forces the body to go into overdrive. When stressed, our bodies release the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol can restrict the function of the skin’s barrier and contribute to redness, blotchiness and breakouts.
  • A neck pillow and eye mask are the best ways to tuck-in and get some rest. Be sure they are are gentle and soft on your skin. Ear plugs or sound canceling headphones puts you beyond the reach of your fellow passengers. Be sure to tell your flight attendants that you do not wish to be disturbed. Even an hour or two of in-flight rest helps to minimize stress, skin puffiness, and under-eye circles.
  • Refresh your eyes and help reduce puffiness by applying an eye gel. We recommend using Previse Nutrify Liposomal Tonic which includes hyaluronic acid for deep hydration. Our marine algae recipe is great for eyelash health, plus our ZeroSilicone recipe excludes parabens and other nasty preservatives which can irritate the eyes.  Apply liberally and as needed.
  • Please don’t forget about your hands. The skin on your hands dries out just as quickly as your facial skin. Your hands will benefit from regular attention, especially on a long-haul flight. We recommend using Previse Previse Defend or HydroBalm. The recipes are crafted to absorb quickly and include aromatherapeutic botanicals.
  • On longer flights try to ‘exercise’ while you fly by walking the length of the cabin several times. If you’re restricted from moving around the cabin simply point your toes up and down while seated, or move your feet in circles for 5 minutes every hour. Keeping your lower extremities active improves blood flow. You’ll be surprised how even these little exercises prevent bloating. Your skin will benefit by looking fresh and radiant when you disembark.
  • For Women, before you land, take a few moments to tint your hydrator with a little of your regular foundation, for a fresh, healthy look. Previse Defend and HydroBalm are crafted to readily blend with all commercial and prescriptive foundations.

Yeah! Happy Summer…

It’s been incredibly hot and dry here in the west, and hot and humid elsewhere. Please, remember to stay hydrated, and keep your skin healthy + fit, even if your daily excursion are limited outdoors.  Many of you share incredible stories about the success you’ve had Prevising. A few of you asked to know more about me and my colleagues. Today I would like to share my personal passion for skin wellness and why Previse Skincare is so wonderful. As an added bonus, I encourage you to read through this post to discover how you can save 20% on any Previse purchase through the end of July! Enjoy!

I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia which until recently led the world in the incidence of skin cancers and sun damaged skin. A successful national “slip-slop-slap” campaign in the 1980‘s helped alter these statistics and gave rise to my lifetime passion for skin cancer prevention.

With over seven years experience in dermatologic surgery I witnessed the exceptionally harmful effects of sun and environmental exposure that result in skin cancer and premature skin aging. As an RN I help educate our patient population in ways to prevent these issues, and maximize skin health, fitness, and well-being.

Today my family and I live in Arizona where constant and intense sun exposure is a daily occurrence. It is very difficult to maintain healthy, hydrated, and damage-free skin. We also spend time visiting family in California and on the east coast, where the temperatures are sometimes milder, which allows us to enjoy extended time outdoors. I personally know from working in dermatology and practicing a daily facial regimen that skin care is as important as physical exercise, a healthy diet, hydration, and good personal hygiene to prevent disease and promote overall wellness.

I am a Previse Skin Type 3. Several years ago experienced adult onset acne. My husband is an outdoor enthusiast and my boys are entering puberty. I was determined to find a brand that helped me maintain healthy, glowing skin, plus encourage healthy, preventative habits for my husband and boys. The search was frustrating. I was forced to compromise and select products from a series of different brands that were never a perfect fit. Nearly everything I researched contained ingredients I couldn’t pronounce and sometimes found to be quite controversial – ingredients like polyethylene glycol, sodium laureth sulfate, and phthalates. My search became a chemistry research project, and I didn’t like what I was finding!

Previse germinated over several years and during my journey to family skin wellness. Together with other mothers, fathers, doctors, and scientists, we took action. I am so proud to be a part of company that takes skin care assessment, prevention, and education seriously. We create products that I feel really, really good about using, and that my family and friends use as well. I am so lucky to be involved with an endeavor that customizes products to meet your needs, preserves our skin health, and the health of our planet.

I would love to hear from you and what you think about our endeavor and our Previse products. Please feel free to contact me using the Previse Contact Us page or visit our Facebook page. You can also send us a tweet at @previsecare on Twitter!

Boutique beauty curator and entrepreneur, Christine Horovitz, opened Kiss and Makeup with aplomb in 2012.  Now in her second year, Ms. Horovitz recently announced the addition of Previse SkinCare to her collection of specialty brands. A cosmetic retail experience for men and women, Kiss and Makeup offers a unique assortment of products that emphasize being eco-friendly, vegan, and animal cruelty free.

Says Ms. Horovitz, “I’m very careful in my choices. As a smaller, independent business I cannot afford to compete with national chains, nor do I want to. Frankly, I’ve personally curated each and every product in Kiss and Makeup. Everything we retail, or use as part of our on-site services, has to be the highest quality. I choose independent brands and products because they are the best in the industry. They do not compromise and neither do I. Previse is already one of my leading brands because their products are free of parabens, petroleum, phthalates, PEG’s, silicone and artificial fragrances. Honestly, there isn’t anything else on the market like Previse. We are incredibly fortunate to have them right here, in our town.”

Previse SkinCare takes pride in recipes that include extracts of daisy flowers, rosemary, ylang ylang, and marine algae. They blend wonderfully potent botanicals with hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and wasbi extract. The combinations help balance surface oil and improve hydration to optimize skin’s fitness.

According to founder and industry vetran Sean Patrick Harrington, “We have a skincare bias.  We do not have a gender bias, nor heritage bias.  Our patients and clients are men, women, teenagers and grandparents. The single unifying element… our Previse belief that the world can be a safer, healthier, and kinder place. Previse connects people who share this passion. Together we created a company that offers apothecary, professional grade products safe for the individual, safe for the home, safe for the community, and safe for the planet at large.”
